The Sunset, From Sand Dunes to "Suburb"

In this talk, we will discuss the rapid, recent large-scale development that swept into the Sunset District, which was previously just acres of sand. What an unusual social experiment it was to create "instant suburbs" far from the old core city, with cohorts of young parents & their children, aging & growing up together in brand new homogeneous neighborhoods & schools. As they aged, these families moved in droves to true suburbs outside the city, opening up the district for a more multicultural population and a new era of 'pioneers.'
